Help With Courtroom Technology Upgrade
Our office is looking at buying some new equipment to do a better job of showing video footage, pictures, etc. to a jury. We still play video tapes on a 24" TV hooked up to a VCR and have to hand photos directly to the jury for them to pass around for everyone to get a good look. We would like to have some type of wall mounted big screen or pull down screen to be able to show video, project large images of pictures, and project text type exhibits or visual aids. What types of equipment, software and computers do any of you recommend (or not recommend)??

Ben,

You may want to contact the Collin County DA's Office. Collin County has a brand new courthouse with some excellent electronic features.

We went through that process over the last few years, talking to several companies and looking at several different setups. You should call the person in our office that handles our technology: Su Knight.

Ben,

Our courthouse uses 3M video screens with data routed from a computer, a document camera, and a combo VCR/DVD player. The technology has its good and bad. Our IT folks are looking at alternatives to the 3M screens. Contact me directly at 512-854-9400 and I will be more than happy to discuss the system, as well as the software involved, with you.
