Has anyone started seeing prop money or movie money being passed in your community? Any success charging them as forgery?

For those who haven't see this, there is an exception to federal law regarding the size of imitation currency if it is being made for use in films. You can buy prop money online that looks deceptively similar to real currency. We're starting to see it a lot on the street and law enforcement wants to know whether it counts as a forgery since the maker explicitly states that it is only for use in films on the bills. The problem is that if you charge it as theft, you're typically limited to a Class C amount.

We charge it as a forgery, and yes, we have a lot of it going on now in my District.
