What's the best way to get the actual content of the DIC-24 in front of the jury when the defendant is Spanish-speaking and the DIC-24S was used? Has anyone had any success in introducing the English version, although it was not the version used by the officer? I understand the two may not be exact literal translations of the other.

The officer didn't speak Spanish either and just read the form to the defendant, so he can't testify directly as to its content.

DPS maintains official translation affidavits for the DIC24s that they use in hearings.

Confrontation aside, I wonder if the DIC24/24S translation affidavit would be admissible as a public record, for the same reasons that the warning itself is admissible under Chapter 724.

It basically says that the DIC24S 02/06 is substantially the same as the DIC24 09/05, likewise for the DIC24S 09/05. It has an affidavit, a copy of the DIC24, and a copy of the relevant DIC24S.
