All the cases against the Rockwall DA are not yet over, but what an important signal has been given by the verdict and sentence in the current case. John Schomburger is to be commended for handling a most difficult situation, prosecuting one of our own--indeed, one who is still the incumbent. This was a very differnt case from the prosecution of the panhandle DA.

This prosecution of one of our members, who tarnished our profession and violated the public trust, should do a great deal to restore faith in the public eye. We can hold each other accountable. If only the SBOT would also step up to the plate and take serious action against others who violate no law but fail to live up to their professional responsibilities.
