When I was in the trial division, we did what Cam C posted. After the witness ID'd the defendant, we'd point at the defendant ourselves & say, "I am now pointing at Billy Joe Bob, the defendant in this case. Is this the person whom you just identified?" When the answer was "Yes", it was done.
