Andrea -
Your boy was at it again. Rearrested while loading stolen goods into a stolen car, just a couple days after he bonded out on his embarrassing 911 incident. The sequel

Police in Chehalis, Wash. caught up to Chapek just after midnight Wednesday at the towns Walmart after they received a call of a theft in progress. Police said they arrived to find Chapek in the stores parking lot attempting to load items into a stolen car.

It hasnt been a banner week for Chapek. He started Monday at the Washington County Jail because of a probation violation. Hours later police said he broke into that Southwest Portland home. After being charged and released, Chapek skipped his court date on Tuesday, and Beaverton police said he was actually at Kuni BMW stealing a running loaner five-series BMW.

Bomb sits for weeks at Detroit federal building, union official says
The guard brought the package into the building and put it in "lost and found" without having it screened, Wright said. It sat until March 18, when someone decided to X-ray the package and found that it might contain a bomb, he said.
The guards then notified the Federal Protective Service and Detroit police and the package was moved outside the building, where the police bomb squad recovered it, he said.

I'm not sure if this goes in the "You can't make this up" thread since it does seem at first blush awfully made up...but it is rather funny.

Here's a dating profile of a guy who insists he won't murder you...

OK, not quite an admission here either, but rather amusing nonetheless:

Lawyer offended by claim he used busty paralegal to distract jury: It was his 'over-qualified' wife

A lawyer accused of distracting his opponent with a sexy paralegal says back off - that's his wife.

Chicago attorney Dmitry Foefanov is furious that rival lawyer Thomas Gooch accused him of exploiting assistant Daniella Atencia's assets to "draw the attention of the jury away from the relevant proceedings."

Ed. MSNBC ran it too, but didn't run a picture.

"If a satirist had come up with the idea of a violent criminal who had spent time in an asylum being admitted by a university to its doctoral program in "homicide studies," thereafter turning into a serial killer, that satirist would have been denounced for poor taste. But this is precisely what a British university did recently. A man with a long history of criminal violence became a serial killer while working on a Ph.D. thesis at the University of Bradford, the subject of his thesis being the methods of homicide used in the city during the nineteenth century. He himself used methods more reminiscent of the fourteenth."

I think my favorite part of the article was pointing out that he's going to be allowed to continue his Ph.D on murder (at taxpayer expense, of course) while in prison.

Japan scientist synthesizes meat from human feces

Somehow this feels like a Vonnegut plotline: population boom equals food shortage. Solution? Synthesize food from human waste matter. Absurd yes, but Japanese scientists have actually discovered a way to create edible steaks from human feces.

Mitsuyuki Ikeda, a researcher from the Okayama Laboratory, has developed steaks based on proteins from human excrement. Tokyo Sewage approached the scientist because of an overabundance of sewage mud. They asked him to explore the possible uses of the sewage and Ikeda found that the mud contained a great deal of protein because of all the bacteria.

LONDON -- A skull dug up in a backyard garden has solved a 130-year-old mystery surrounding the murder of a wealthy London widow.

Julia Thomas was murdered by her maid in 1879, but her head was never found, preventing a formal identification of the corpse. The case was dubbed the "Barnes mystery" by the Victorians.
