Does anyone know if the venue statute for Forgery found in CCP 13.02 applies equally to all types of Forgery, including those found outside the Penal Code? I have a forged certificate of title case (Trans. Code 501.155) where venue is clearly going to be an issue and the answser to this question will help determine whether or not we can prosecute here. CCP 1.03 leads me to believe that the venue provision would apply to any criminal prosecution for forgery, regardless of where that law is found on the books. That is my thought anyway.
