After burning lots of time on hold with TDI Work Comp Division, I figured someone here would know the answer and actually respond. Sec. 504.011 of the Labor Code says one of the ways a political subdivision may extend coverage is by, "becoming a self-insurer." 504.018 requires the political subdivision to "notify the division of the method by which its employees will receive benefits, the approximate number of employees covered, and the estimated amount of payroll."

My question is, does the division provide for a specific method of "becoming" a self-insurer, and is there a form by which to provide notice?
