DTPA Claim
I have received a complaint from a citizen about an unscrupulous handyman taking "down payments" from people allegedly to order initial supplies and then never performing the work or ordering the supplies. He refuses to refund the money. I have reviewed the Business and Commerce Code and see that CAs and DAs have the authority to bring DTPA actions. If there is anybody who has experience handling these as a government lawyer, please let me know. I am looking for both insight and forms. I successfully tried a DTPA case to a jury while in private practice years ago, but I am starting anew here. Thanks. dholmes@co.hill.tx.us
