Defense Expert- William Flynn, Ph. D.
We have a case going to trial next week against an older man accused of sexually abusing 3 girls from different households. The defense is using as its trial expert a psychologist out of Dallas named William Flynn. Has anyone had this guy on court?

Visit this Texas Department of Health website: Flynn is not a lisenced sex offender treatment provider if that is where the defense is headed. http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/hcqs/plc/csot.htm

I wouldn't be too scared if I were you. We had him in a trial about 2 years ago. We basically got him to admit that all his personality tests and other assessments depended on the defendant being forthcoming and honest about the offense and his proclivities, and in our case, as it turned out, the defendant LIED to Dr. Flynn big time. Just be sure to do a 705 hearing to find out what he's going to say. He's sort of a flighty guy, and didn't come across as a very reliable witness. He'll probably talk about risk assessment (incest molesters are the least likely to do it again, etc.). You could always do a Lagrone motion and ask to have your own doctor evaluate the defendant so you can have someone come and rebut Dr. Flynn. Or, you should have a credible doctor come listen to Dr. Flynn and tell you what's wrong with what he's saying. We did that.
