Computer Security for Prosecutors Offices
Last year Smith County converted to a joint computer software program, AbleTerm by TSG. Like many counties we are on one computer network with different "packages" for the different departments. What steps have other offices taken to ensure computer security relating to (1) different departments on the same system; (2) contractors for tech support; (3) outside contractors who have some access to the system {e.g. law firms who collect taxes}; (4) an area I have missed. Some issues that have been raised: grand jury materials and investigations; sealed bids from the auditor's office; PSIs from probation; crime victim's info; and sealed court records. There are other issues out there. We are just curious to see if anyone else has addressed these issues, and in what way.
