I have a juvenile case where a regular petition was filed a couple years ago. However, the case has yet to be resolved bc it has gone through several lawyers already. We have elected an Alternate Juvenile Court (District Court) to hear the case, but now the child will be turning 17 this November and the Judge would like the case completely transferred to District Court. Mainly, because the sentencing options will be different once he turns 17. Would I need to file a determinate sentencing petition in order to transfer case? Certification doesn't appear to be an option bc of age of child at time of offense.
