The US Border Patrol has insisted that they have Federal authority to interview detained juveniles for purposes of determining states, nationality, etc. I have responded that I do not construe the federal statute to supercede state law on several juvenile matters - records and conferences. Instead of going through my entire arguments, I was wondering if anyone has had a similar contact and what your response has been. You may also call me: Homero Ramirez, Webb County Attorney 956-523-4044; email jhramirez@webbcounty.com.
