Criminal issues before SCOTUS
The Supreme Court will hear a second case involving youths in criminal cases. The first case, you will recall, inquires whether police must obtain a warrant before inteviewing a child at school about sex abuse. See Camreta v. Greene (09-1454) and Alford v. Greene (09-1478), granted on Oct. 12. The latest case inquires whether a minor has the right to Miranda warnings before questioning, i.e., what part does age play. See J.D.B. v. North Carolina (09-11121, granted on Nov. 1.

A third case looks at the good-faith exception to a search that was legal at the time it was done, but was later found to be unconstitutional--revisiting Arizona v. Gant. See Davis v. U.S. (09-11328), granted on Nov. 1.
