Has anyone else noticed that, since the first of the year, the Fifth COA has begun publishing more of its criminal opinions? Let's hope this useful trend continues -- we needed some recent law from the court. Does anyone know the reason for the more relaxed approach?

John, I am not sure the approach is much relaxed. Excluding dismissals, the court issued about 45 opinions in criminal cases in February, but only 4 of those were published. Fortunately, you can now cite the court's unpublished opinions in briefs and a full text search of all of its opinions can be accomplished on its website.
