John Talleytrial superstitions
Many years ago, after the third day of trial, my trial partner and I had finished prepping for the last day and were leaving when he asked if I wanted to grab a bite to eat. It was about 10:00 pm and we decided on steak. Soon we were enjoying a very nice dinner and a bottle of wine at our local steak house, and the place was packed.
As we were leaving, I asked the hostess why they were so busy on a week night?
She said, "Valentine's day."
We got a great verdict, and it was not many years until I was single, again.
I still try to enjoy a solemn glass of wine before the last day of important trials, and now I do so knowing that the alarm on my PDA is set to annoy me as to life events that should not be forgotten.
