Friday, January 18, 2008
From staff reports
A 19th State District Court jury sentenced Natalie Rocha, 29, of Waco, to 99 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the March 2007 slaying of Joann Allen Chambers at a house in the 1300 block of Tabor Street in Waco.
The jury of six women and six men deliberated for about an hour today before their decision was announced.
Rocha will have to serve at least 30 years in prison before she is eligible for parole.
On Thursday, the jury convicted Rocha of murder, despite her repeated denials of the crime.
Chambers, 50, was stabbed 211 times in a feud over drug money, according to court testimony.
