Floyd L. JenningsIt is methylphenidate - a psychostimulant, and while it has legitimate medical uses both with children and adults, has significant addiction potential. Side effects in addition to weight loss, and the behavioral effects of a stimulant (in high doses) could include cardiac arrest! No side effect would likely affect competency/sanity, moreover, intoxication - if present - would be voluntary.
