We just had a hearsay objection to a DPS crime lab report sustained while the chemist was on the stand....I have entered them for years. Has something changed, or have I been doing it wrong for years?

They can come in as business records, assuming all the predicates are laid. Few lawyers object to them. Of course, I am waiting for the "unnecessarily cumulative" or "bolstering" objections to come in. Sometimes, you just gotta understand that objections are made, not because they are necessary, but because they can be made. And judges sustain objections they will never be reversed on, just because. I have had judges sustain hearsay objections to admissions. Go figure.
