Murphy fires police chief involved in 'Dateline NBC' sex predator sting 5:12 PM CT

Billy Myrick, the Murphy police chief who helped facilitate the city's participation in a sex predator sting with Dateline NBC in 2006, has been fired, city officials said Wednesday.

"...Asif Khokhar, a predator who had arrived at the Murphy, Texas sting operation back in 2006 was charged in Harris County, Texas after news broke that he would not be charged in Collin County, Texas. Once the good folks of Harris County learned that an internet predator was walking free who lived in their county, they requested our evidence, evaluated it and used it to get the conviction on Khokhar."
