For a while, some of the officers and troopers have been asking those they stop on traffic cases for their DL and DOB etc( as they should). However, They are also now asking for a Social Securtiy #.
Subsequently, that info is being broadcast over the air to dispatch. Anyone with a scanner inclined to do so now has a name, address, DOB, DL, and SSN to use as they see fit i.e. identity theft!
Have any of you noticed the same thing?
I have had a couple of complaints of people not wanting to give that info, but did anyway. I'm sure it won't be long before someone refuses.
As a prosecutor, would you get invloved since there is no criminal case and the agencies invloved are not under your "control"?
