GOV. SIGNS INMATE PHOTO BAN INTO LAW
Gov. Sonny Perdue signed into law Thursday a measure that would ban prison inmates from having photos of their victims in their cells, approving the first piece of legislation taken from a Web site that encourages citizen suggestions.
The bill, which passed both legislative chambers unanimously, allows judges to make an exception if the photo is needed for a legal appeal. It was suggested by prison warden Ralph Kemp through the state's "Georgia Speaks" site, which invites ideas for legislation from citizens.
