I wonder if anything will actually come about due to Chief Justice Jefferson's proposals? I have felt for a long time that the COA jurisdictions need redrawing--transferring cases is a poor stop-gap. It would also be useful if there was more uniformity in the classification of trial courts. In Denton County we have a misdemeanor court that has jurisdiction to handle felony DWI cases and other anomalies exist elsewhere. If we are serious about an elected judiciary, let's have visiting judges that are elected to that position too.
