The AG just released an opinion on the duties of a DA when administering property forfeited under chapter 59, CCP. I thought you DA/CA types might be interested. The opinion is GA-0122.

For those of us who aren't blessed with felony jurisdiction, the opinion is an item of passing interest, since article 18.18 doesn't reach real property. But those of you who do will be glad to know that you have authority to lease forfeited real property, so long as you follow the guidelines in the opinion which reiterate chapter 59's guidelines for disposition of forfeited property and distribution of the proceeds the property may generate. (Hint: If you forfeit Park Place, put a hotel on it.)
