59.08 indicates that the interest on seized contraband is distributed in the same manner as the prinicipal. What happens to the interest if the final judgment awards the "contraband" to the respondent? Does the interest go back, too. What happens to the interest if the state decides not to file a case?

In either case the interest should go back to the person from whom the money was seized.
