EM77445Delinquent Tax Attorneys
Ok, here is a riveting question for a Friday P.M.
County can hire private attorney to collect delinquent taxes, that's solid. But, can the contract to collect the taxes be for more than a one year period? The fees that will be paid to the attorney for years 2 and 3 will not come from current year revenues, however there will not be any fees incurred in year 1 that will not come from current year revenues, because the attorney is only getting paid in year 1 if he collects the money in year 1. The county has no additional liability aside from paying him the money that he is successful in collecting. Thanks

RayI doubt any revenue of the county is ever in question in this contract. Are they not seeking a percentage of whatever they collect? If they collect nothing they get nothing.
