Fun with the Open Meetings Act
Here, courtesy of our county clerk, is presented this Open Meetings trivia question, purely for your education and enjoyment:

Entire commissioners court (4 comm'rs plus 1 judge) meet with the auditor and the auditor opens bids on equipment. Meeting is opened by judge the same as a regular meeting would be. Some questions are asked of vendors who are present, no decision is made. Meeting is adjourned.

Question: Overlooking all of the other obvious problems with this scenario, does the clerk need to record minutes for this meeting?

Again, this is purely hypothetical. Any resemblance to actual persons or events is strictly coincidental.

Surely you jest. Why I just can't imagine 6 government officials having a get-to-gather, without one of them questioning that pesky law called OPEN MEETINGS LAW!!!!!!!! It just doesn't happen. We all know that each and every government official from the lowest school board member to the top dogs in Austin are walking talking ambassadors of every aspect of lawful activities. perhaps a witness statement for the lawsuit and criminal trial that could follow might be a more appropriate memorialization! Wink
