Republic of Texas elections
My County Clerk was mailed an "Election Notice" from the self styled Secretary of State of the Republic of Texas. It states that there will be elections to the 10th Congress of the Republic of Texas on 6 September 2004, and asks her to post the notice.

Its been a few years since we had any trouble out of these folks. Has anyone else noticed an increase in ROT/Militia activity?

We got the same notice. Our first assistant was thinking of running for attorney general. I'm contemplating aiming a little higher; like, chief justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Chancery, Writs and Pleas (without recourse under article 2, UCC). Would that trigger the resign-to-run provision? Confused

ROT-type paperwork activity is definitely UP again.

Did someone recently get out of prison or something?

Are they so low on funds they can't post their own notices?

Which, of course, begs the larger question: Why would they post "official" notices with an office of the very government whose legitimacy they so tenaciously deny? The office of county clerk is no less a product of the Texas Constitution of 1876 than any other state or county office which the ROTters refuse to recognize. Perhaps it's that county clerks don't have golden fringe on their flags.
