My clerk wants a certificate which would absolve her of liability in the event she does a record search (normally for misdemeanors) and misses something. It seems to me that this goes beyond her statutory duties - she is record keeper, not searcher. Once she does the searches, is she far enough out of her statutory realm that she can't be protected? If the searches are part of her statutory task, official immunity should cover her. If not, will some generic disclaimer do it?
