Hundreds of police recruits today created a new world record for the highest number of people to be handcuffed together.
A total of 305 recruits, officers and staff braved high winds to enter the Alternative Book of World Records at the Met Police's training centre in Hendon, north London.
Meanwhile a team of officers were on standby to release the record breakers once their efforts had been confirmed by adjudicators.
A police spokesman hailed the effort as a "new world record".
He said: "It was a test of endurance for people standing out in the wind and the rain.
"It was done in our lunchtime - it took about 25 minutes."
Fortunately for participants, no keys went missing during the record attempt, he added.

GGI wasn't even aware that there exists an "Alternative Book of World Records". Would that be something that would include world records by musical acts such as Pearl Jam?
