This is an article I made for our office.

Do you Have Problems with Client Control?

Client Control Dysfunction or CCD is the inability to achieve or sustain plea agreement suitable for judicial economy. Problems with CCD may stem from a false sense of innocence, mental illness, chronic laziness, poor decision making, or being overworked.

How Common Is CCD?

According to the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, approximately 15 percent of 30-year-old men and between 20 and 50 percent of 40-year-old men experience CCD on a long-term basis.

A much more common problem that affects the majority of defense attorneys at some point in their life is the occasional failure to achieve a plea alltogether, which can occur for a variety of reasons, such as failure to negotiate before pretrial or from being overworked.

Failure to achieve a plea less than 10% of the time is not unusual and treatment is rarely needed. Failure to achieve a plea more than 50% of the time, however, generally indicates there is a problem requiring treatment.

What Causes CCD?

In order to achieve a plea three conditions must occur: The brain of the attorneys must be functioning properly; blood circulation must be adequate; there must be a proper stimulus. If there is something interfering with any or all of these conditions, a full plea agreement will be prevented.

Common causes of CCD include diseases that affect blood flow, such as atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries); psychological factors, such as stress, depression, and performance anxiety; and injury to the brain.

Can CCD Be Prevented?

For people who are at risk of developing CCD due to personal behavior, steps may be taken to prevent its occurrence. However, other causes of CCD may not be preventable.

Who Treats CCD?

The type of specialist who treats CCD will depend on the cause of the problem. Based on your family's mental history as well as your own mental history and current mental health, a professional may treat you with oral beat down. If this fails, he or she may smack you upside the head or refer you to a psychologist.

How Is CCD Treated?

There are many different ways CCD can be treated, including oral medications, thumb screws, penile injections, suppositories, vacuum pumps, and brain surgery. The most common and least painful treatment is PLEAITOUT©. As with all remedies, there is a rare risk of the sudden ability to plea a case lasting longer than four months. To avoid long-term injury, seek immediate medical attention. PLEAITOUT© does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Each type of treatment has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Talk to your specialist to determine the best treatment for you.
