Kelly Siegler, a longtime prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney's Office who lost her bid for the top job there in April's primary elections, resigned Friday.

Siegler, 45, who had worked at the office since 1987, submitted her resignation letter to District Attorney Ken Magidson early this afternoon. It takes effect immediately.

.....

Siegler's resignation came as a surprise, said Scott Durfee, general counsel and spokesman for the district attorney's office.

.....

Siegler ran as a Republican candidate for Harris County district attorney after Chuck Rosenthal resigned earlier this year. She won the most votes of any candidate in the general primary election, but was defeated in the runoff by former judge Pat Lykos.

Kelly gave a great presentation at a TDCAA seminar I attended. I certainly hope that she doesn't turn to the dark side!

It could be more than a little awkward to work for your election opponent.
