Does the Justice of the Peace have the right to demand a cash bond on an appeal to county court?

CCP 45.0425 Indicates that the court "must" approve the bond if it otherwise complies with the code, so I think you can't require cash...

If a bond is not for double the amount fro tickets appealed up from J.P. court to County Court or the surety is disqualified then what is the remedy for the state?

In order for there to be a valid appeal out of JP court to the County Court the defendant must file a bond ( cash or valid surety) for twice the amount of the fine, plus costs. If this is not done in a timely manner there is no valid appeal and the conviction below stands.

I do not believe that a cash bond can be required.
