At the time TDCAA's 2013-2015 code books went to press, the Legislature was still working on a response to the U.S. Supreme Court's ban on automatic life without parole sentences for 17-year-old capital offenders; see Miller v. Alabama, 132 S.Ct. 2455 (2012). On Monday, July 22, 2013, Governor Perry signed into law Senate Bill 2 from the Second Called Session, which took effect immediately.

The changes made by SB 2 to the Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure are included in the PDF documents found below. To update your code books (both spiral-bound and the annotated Criminal Laws of Texas), print out the PDFs applicable to the TDCAA code version you own and paste them over the old pages.

We apologize for this inconvenience, but nothing about special sessions are convenient to those who must deal with them!
