Is anyone aware of any authority that a court can help pay for a state expert?

I've got a capital murder case where we're set up to get reimbursed by the governor's office for the expense, but my office cannot afford the full amount on the front end. So I've asked the court to pay for part and my office to pay for part, and both get reimbursed. But the judge is asking for any authority on that. Thanks.
