Anyone out there have a county and city at odds with each other? Well the city manager wants the city judge to stop magistrating defendants. We also have 2 JP's. Trying to find anything in the Local Gov't or Gov't Code regarding a city judge's duties. Any help appreciated.

The Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 2.09 includes municipal court judges as magistrates. This gives the city judge the power to magistrate persons jailed for an offense. The answer to your situation lies in the fact that the city judge is an appointed position and the city council can limit the scope of the judge's activities in matters which are not related to municipal court cases if the council wishes to do so.
