What is the mechanism for getting a pre-set bond amount on an arrest warrant prior to the JP signing the warrant? Is there some way, up front, to have the JP set a bond on an arrest warrant? If so, how? All of our warrants do not have bonds and are to be set when the suspect is arrested and arraigned.

You simply ask the JP to set the bond once he issues the warrant. I would suggest you have the suspect's rap sheet with you so the JP can review that before setting the bond.

If the JP is issuing arrest warrants on class A and B misdemeanor cases, then he may not be comfortable with setting bonds on cases that ultimately he won't being trying. The solution to this is to get the County Court Judges to give guidelines (pre-set bond amounts for offenses). You can do the same thing with Felony cases too.
