March 10, 2020 Dear Potential Research Participant, We need your expertise. We have identified that there may be opportunities in which health care provider medical record documentation may assist in you in investigating and prosecuting individuals accused of human trafficking. Additionally, we have identified instances when health care provider medical record documentation may be helpful in determining victims’ services and victim restitution for acute and long-term needs, such as food, shelter, clothing, health care, substance abuse rehabilitation, and mental health care. Dr. Cathy Miller, The Honorable Hugo Martinez, and Dr. David Scott are conducting a study, Identifying Elements in Health Care Provider Medical Record Documentation to Assist in Prosecuting Human Traffickers and in Securing Victim Services and Restitution: A Delphi Study. This study has been approved by the University of Texas at Tyler Institutional Review Board. Participation is purely voluntary and includes the completion of a brief survey relating to your needs as a Prosecutor. The survey can be found at Human Trafficking Victim Restitution and Services-Prosecutor Study consent will be the first page of the survey. Your survey responses are anonymous unless you choose to be recognized as an expert panelist in any subsequent publication of the research findings. Once the data have been organized and analyzed, you will receive a summary of our findings. Furthermore, any you will be notified of any publication of the findings. Please complete the survey by May 1, 2020.
