My reading of the Art. 12.01 puts the statute of limitations for this offense at 3 years. Anybody think differently? (I sure would like to be able to file.)

3 years is the current statute of limitations.

FYI, 14 separate bills have been filed this session to amend or enhance the scope of PC Sec. 32.51, including SB 1530 by Hinojosa, which would extend the statute of limitations to 5 years (among other changes). The companion to that bill is HB 2257 by Frost.

Legislators are always looking for anecdotes to justify or explain their bills, so if you have a case that is or soon will be barred, I'm sure you could find some appreciative folks at the Capitol who would like to hear about it. Contact me for more information if interested.
