Well, when his date arrives, he'll never see them coming. So is he truly a whack job, or has he discovered a new dodge? It didn't work the first time.

perhaps he's looking for amazing grace.

Somebody told him he had to "look deep inside himself" for redemption. That was the only way he could see to do it.

Maybe he was looking for his misplaced cell phone.

Then I would agree he is insane. Because everyone knows you keep those in your rectum.

Did anybody else who clicked on the link see an ad above the article showing people licking their fingers? It certainly caught my eye. Evidently it is one of several banners that rotate randomly.

Not yet, but now you have me wasting time clicking on the link and closing it over and over again to see the different banner ads (without waiting for them to scroll through). I did have several with popcorn though.

This article is very upsetting. Obviously the guy is nuts - and has been nuts for some time. The trial judge had no business declaring the guy competent. So now how much more will it cost the taxpayers to take care of this blind idiot for the rest of his life?

I was pretty upset about his cold-blooded murder of a young mother and her two children. But, that's just me. Look, there is plenty of reason for us all to be upset about a lot of things. But, these things did not happen in a vacuum. An arrest was made. An investigation was conducted. A trial was held. An appeal affirmed the fairness of the trial. So, let's not act like this was some big plot to execute a crazy man. There sure is some indication that his mental state has deteriorated (or he is quite committed to his plan to fake crazy). And that may well prevent him from being executed. But it doesn't excuse his crime or make him any less dangerous. The government still has a serious obligation to protect the public while treating him humanely.

They need to stop letting people on death row watch Andrew Zimmern ("Bizarre Foods") on TV. Gives them ideas. But this case illustrates how legal insanity is different from being flagrantly mentally ill. This guy is obviously Bat S--- Crazy but he might have killed those people in a rage or out of jealousy, or for some reason unrelated to his delusion about his eyeballs. Hopefully, they sorted all this out at trial.

A condemned Texas inmate with a history of mental problems who removed his only eye and ate it in a bizarre outburst several months ago on death row lost an appeal Wednesday at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Details.
