Had a woman coming through town who reported her 7 y.o. daughter was sexually assaulted by an adult male while they were here. Apparently, after reporting but before detectives could get the girl in for a SANE exam and interview at our CAC, mom takes the girl and leaves town for Vancouver. Anyone have any experience dealing with Canadian authorities re: child sexual abuse? It's looking like if we can't get mom to bring the daughter back here our only hope may be with their version of CPS and CAC equivalent. With our many experienced and globe-trotting prosecutors, I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions. Thanks in advance.

If you check with the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse (APRI) at (703) 519-1643 they should be able to give you some information on their collegues there. Canada does have SANE type programs and is quite active in abuse prosecutions.
