OK I know it says nothing about intoxication but it did happen at 3 am. As bad as that case Richard Alpert had a few years ago.



Police: Driver fled after killing pedestrian on NW Freeway

A motorist who allegedly fled after he struck and killed a man trying to cross the Northwest Freeway early this morning has been detained by police.

Investigators said a 25-year-old man was attempting to cross the southbound lanes in the 11000 block of the Northwest Freeway around 3 a.m. when he was struck by a black Chevy Lumina.

The man landed on the hood of the car and remained there while the motorist continued driving, authorities said.

The driver took the next exit and made an abrupt stop on the feeder road, causing the man's body to be thrown from the hood into the 10300 block of the feeder road, authorities said.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced the man dead. His identity is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

The driver fled the scene and called police from home to report the incident. He is being detained by police for questioning.

No further information was immediately available.
