How are DAs handling this new requirement of notice to schools?

I don't think its new. I believe it has been around in various forms since the 1993 session.

Our office telephones the superintendent and follows up with a letter. Its just part of the routine check list when dealing with a file.

I have some sample letters if you don't want to reinvent the wheel.

And since this may be "new" for your jurisdiction, you might want to check and make sure that your police agencies and probation departments are doing their part as well.

The only new change this past session (2005) was to permit electronic notification in lieu of written notice, which will hopefully make this process easier.
