Unnecessary laws causing more harm than good 8/8/2007 Newsroom Texas has more than 23--hundred felony laws on the books, and one group thinks that number is ridiculous. The Texas Public Policy Foundation, a libertarian group, suspects many of these laws are on the books not to punish wrongdoing, but to raise money. Take the one thousand dollar surcharge slapped on drunk driving and similar offenses. One in ten Austin residents has a warrant out for their arrest. The foundations Mark Levin says unlicensed delivery of grain is a more serious crime in Texas than attempted sexual assault of a child. | ||
