Anybody have an expert or point of contact for questions from an autopsy report. 1) Child had no injuries noted at ER; autopsy indicated numerous contusions and blunt force traumas. 2) Questions on how long a child might live after injury. 3) Amount of force needed to cause injuries and how life threatening each would be. Does not appear to be shaken baby case, but is there a point of contact to present facts and see if it is a shaken baby case?

Dr. Eric Levy out of Amarillo has testified for several counties and the AG's Office. There is a post on him in the expert witness section. If you want someone a little closer to home, I've had good luck with Dr. Fernandez in Longview/Tyler. Not sure that he is an "expert" in the shaken baby area but he has always been great to answer questions if you can track him down. I have his # somewhere if you're interested.

I would recommend contacting the Shaken Baby Alliance in Fort Worth (817-882-8686). Talk to Bonnie Armstrong, the director. They are a wonderful resource for all types of physical child abuse cases, not just shaken baby. They can hook you up with probably the best expert around for whatever type of case you actually have. Also, they can help in a variety of other ways in investigating and getting ready for trial. BTW, I agree w/ Stacey about Dr. Levy. I've also consulted with Dr. Guileyardo in Dallas and think very highly of him too.

Thanks to both of you. I have just contacted Shaken Baby Alliance and am awaiting Jay Lapham's return call. The case is not indicted yet, just trying to get the ducklings in a row.
