He is a bit of a celebrity and the spokesperson for the city motto: Keep Austin Weird. I hope that he is getting the best of care.

I thought he died a year or two ago. Maybe that was some other flamboyantly under-dressed homeless person.

You're probably thinking of Jennifer Gale, the homeless dude-who-became-a-chick and frequent candidate for public office. S/he died last winter of hypothermia--on the back steps of the church where my son goes to daycare, no less.
