John Vance, former Dallas DA, dies at 74 06:29 AM CDT on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 By JOE SIMNACHER and KEVIN KRAUSE The Dallas Morning News John Vance, who took the challenge of following in the footsteps of legendary Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade, has died. Mr. Vance, 74, who served as district attorney from 1986 to 1998, died Sunday of complications from diabetes and heart disease at his Dallas home. Mr. Vance also had been a district judge, a county prosecutor, assistant city attorney and appellate judge. But it was his creation of a special team to prosecute child abuse cases, he once said, that was his greatest achievement. Details. [At a time when we see some elected officials failing to live up to their oath of office, we should recognize those officials, like Judge Vance, who honor that oath.] | ||
