Upon attempting to select a jury on a burg/hab case I asked a question to the panel regarding any of them having been the victim of a burglary.

(I shall paraphrase for comedic economy)

A nice young lady raised her hand and stated, "I have been a victim of burglary. They broke in, stole all of our family photographs. It was horrible. They even stole our cat."

Without even thinking, I blurted out, "So then....You can honestly say that you are a victim of a cat burglar!"

That was a once-in-a-lifetime set-up.

** Before I get the hate mail about jokes during voir dire, I think it made the panel more relaxed and comfortable.
