I know that these are normally held in JP court. But, could a county court at law judge hear this? I really want a record. If he can, how do I get the hearing moved to his court?

Just to be clear, I am not interested in keeping the property (firearms) but I want the person recieving on notice that her husband could be liable for federal and state charges when he gets out.

As long as it is not a case that requires a specific magistrate hear it, such as teh one that signed teh warrant or that a return was made to. If it's just seized property then any magistrate can do it.
