Do your investigators combine what they have managed to gather from their witness into one complete statement or do you get 2-4 statements from the witness, each with more detail that answer defenses that the officer may have thought about later? This is particularly awkward with sexual assault cases and teenagers who are interviewed with their parents present/ Who wants to describe what happened with mom sitting there? Do we as prosecutors have an ethical problem with the officers getting the "whole" truth and then combining it into one sworn statement??????? Wish I could be like the defense and not have any statements sometimes.... | ||
